How Your Setup can affect your CoD gameplay

1. The TV
How does a TV affect your gameplay? Well it does in several ways.
firstly i played call of duty 4 and 5 on a 15 inch box television that was about 6 years old and i had a 1.33 and 2.27 k/d respectively, so the difference can be marginal, you'll still do well if your a good player.
Now i have a HDTV 21 inch and it works perfectly, the higher detail allows you to see even the slightest pixel movement from across the map, which is particularly crucial in s&d.
so your tv can affect how well you notice small details.

Secondly the TV's size does matter, i'm going to have countless people disagree with me here but... the smaller your TV the better you will do.
take my TV for example i can sit fairly close and i can see the whole of the monitor in my view and focus on it completely.
Compare this to a 50 inch Plasma TV, which i play quite alot on at my dads house and you cannot focus as much, you must sit further back, and depending on how close you are you will have to turn your head to focus on a particular part of the TV, it may well look fantastic on a huge screen but you just can't focus as well and the smaller details will pass you by.

2. Sound
This is probably more important, nevermind what tv you have, whether you have surround sound, a headset or whatever, simply turning the volume up helps you extremely.
Surround sound and full headsets are GOD on this game, with a good surround sound system or a good headset you can actually clearly determine which direction players are coming from(even ninja pro users, as it does not remove all sound).
This is of most help in Search & Destroy but great in all modes, i don't have either myself but i've used a friends Astro A40's and all i can say is i'm getting myself a pair Scylla-x's short guide on how your PS3 setup affects your gameplay. - NextGenUpdate (2)
so i highly recommend you either get surround sound or a gaming headset, if you haven't got either yet do what i do and make up for it with a loud volume and sitrep Pro xD

3. Internet & Connection
Why do i refuse to play serious 1v1's despite never losing against players that had 3x my k/d back in 4 and 2x in 5?
Because the host always wins. skill is involved but an average host will beat an above average player.
its not always noticeable but ive found its particularly noticeable when they have a weapon like the FAL or a 3 burst gun, if you are not host, they will step around the corner and kill you before they've appeared on your screen, with radar on the huge advantage becomes obvious.
This advantage carries on into online play, so whoever is the host has about a second up on all their opponents, and you will frequently see that peoples best games occur when they are host.
So how can you get host? there are many guides on how to force yourself as host, simply by uploading videos to youtube and such so take a look at them.
i never force host, yet i get host at least 1 in 3 games why? the cost of your internet has no affect, my internet is free for life with a cheap phone deal and its not particularly good, its average i'd say.
All i know is that my location is close to one of the centres where all the phone lines meet, so quite possibly your location on the map determines it.(im UK by the way)

Controllers have very little affect and there isn't much to say, but i'd recommend you play with them plugged in so there is no delay between the wireless signal being sent and picked up by the ps3(its very very small, but every little helps Scylla-x's short guide on how your PS3 setup affects your gameplay. - NextGenUpdate (3) )

Wireless or Wired? Wired gives you the best connection by far, just like controllers even if the signal strength is 100% it still has to be sent and recieved so wired is always best.
Nat Type 1, i have nat type 2 and there is only 1 way to get nat type 1, you need a seperate router and modem, most peoples modems(including mine) double as a router so you can never get nat type 1.
you need 2 seperate boxes(modem and a router) connected together and then connected to your ps3, or you need to connect your ps3 directly to a modem; this must be wired for nat type 1.
if there is no way you can get wired, i suggest making sure your signal strength is always 100% by buying the best router available(with the largest range).

4. Distractions
I'm sure we have all listened to music, it can have 2 affects. It can increase the confidence you play with and lead to you doing very well, listening to eye of the tiger always gives you that invinceable feeling(until a n00b grenade launchers you anyway).
the major affect is your distracted, you are missing out on the sound of the game and you will die because of it, in short unless your playing n00bs or your drunk, just turn the music off because it hardly ever helps.
Shut your Door! no one else wants to hear you and your mum discussing what you'd like for dinner(over headset), or you shouting for a beer, and whilst you are thinking about something else you are not concentrating and will die. Same thing applies to phone converations, a friend of mine went from 11-1 in s&d to 0-7 next game(the worst i've seen) because he was discussing football practice on the phone and sharing his conversation with all of us via headset.

5. In game setup
Your class setup in game is 1 of the most crucial things that will determine how good you do.
People often ask me why i would use cold blooded without ninja its because im not trying to ghost, i use it because i have little need for stopping power on that setup and avoiding uav and streaks is a great benefit, heart sensors are also rare and i won't be running around and making alot of noise.
Use what works for you, trial and error.
I recommend you use a silencer because people 90% rely on their radar and it will make an unbelievable difference.

please, please for my sanity do not put scrambler on a cold blooded class in search and destroy, because when its 3-3 and your last alive, il start crying :p

anyway thanks for reading, hope it helped you abit or told you something you didn't know Scylla-x's short guide on how your PS3 setup affects your gameplay. - NextGenUpdate (4)^
