How do you respond to someone asking for support? ›

The most universal way to support a point is to provide a reference to a source which backs it up: either someone who agrees with you, or evidence that supports you. As your studies progress, this strategy may need to become more in depth, perhaps referencing multiple sources or commenting critically on them.

"support your answer" is an acceptable phrase in written English. It is typically used to encourage a person to explain and provide evidence to back up their statement. For example: "Please provide several sources to support your answer."

"Thank you so much” are the sweetest words you can say to show how grateful you are for someone's kindness and support. Saying thank you is a gracious gesture. It's polite, proper, and powerful. How to respond if someone asks if you need help? ›

Ask for support: If you feel open and comfortable seeking help from the person asking, you can let them know what you need. An example could be, “Thanks, I really appreciate your concern. Right now, I could use someone to talk to and a bit of support.”

Be courteous, using phrases like "Could you please..." or "I'd appreciate your help with..." This shows respect and consideration to the other person (and even yourself) and makes it easier for the other person to respond positively.

When someone asks you if they can help, refer to your list and say “YES.” Let them choose what task on the list they would like to do. You don't need to feel indebted to those who help—your sincere appreciation of their help is thanks enough. People understand that you may not be able to return the favor.

“Thanks though.” — Thank them for offering assistance. “If I needed some help a little later, can I count/call on you?” — Make them feel their help may be needed later even if you're sure you wont need it, this makes them not to feel turned down and allows you to freely go back to them when you need their help.

When you are ready to answer a request or inquiry, you should provide a clear and concise answer that addresses their needs and expectations. You should use polite and professional language, avoid jargon and slang, and provide evidence and examples if necessary.

I always react by saying politely while looking straight at the person asking “ lets hear the favor/help first”. Then the person will add what ever he/she needs and then I am able to say “no, I cannot, I do not want to help you out “ or “sure, I can do that for you”.
